After a thousand drill holes and a little work with a chisel.
The center of the butt was removed. Just a rasp needed to
clean it up.
Its now time to remove some of the thickness from the butt.
With a hand saw, half an hour later, 10mm came of the first side.
The other side will be done after work tomorrow.

Progress looks good. It seems you're pretty much set in knowing what you want and handy with tools and such. :)
ReplyDeleteBut just in case you run into a problem, I'll mention a little bit from the basics in regards to the order of operations involved in crossbow building.
Before getting in too far into the actual shaping of the stock, it is important to consider that it is easier to inlet the trigger and mount the prod while the stock is still square. ;)
I bet you've already heard of Robin Allen, a crossbow legend from your parts. He did a few videos explaining what I mentioned, only in greater detail. So if you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend you do.
Good luck on the build.
